Cabbagetown Tour of Homes is currently seeking volunteers!

This year’s annual “2012 Cabbagetown Tour of Homes” is currently seeking volunteers to participate in this year’s exciting tour! There are currently 8 fantastic homes this year to showcase. The Cabbagetown Preservation Association is now looking for volunteers to make this another spectacular year! Volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket to see all the homes following the public viewing — from 4pm to 5pm. An “After Tour Party” with homeowners at a residence in the Cabbagetown neighbourhood will follow after, with details of the party to be released upon confirmation of your volunteer status. Catch the Cabbagetown Youth Centre Performance happening TODAY

At the Cabbagetown Youth Centre’s free Performing Arts Camp, 150 kids get to participate in the arts every summer. Campers will show what they learned at the Rosedale Heights School of the Arts, when the camp holds its annual year-end performance. The little ones all from the Cabbagetown, St. James Town and Regent Park communities will showcase their talents in dance, drama, vocals and songwriting. The performing arts camp is one of several initiatives the CYC holds each year to give children within the community a chance to develop and learn new skills from positive elements. The Cabbagetown South Residents’ Association would like to invite Everyone and the Tenants of the Toronto Community Housing, to join them for their Spring Safety Walk this Thursday, May 24th at 6:15pm to 8:30pm. Residents of Cabbagetown South, along with Sgt. Hayles from Toronto Police 51 Division – Community Response Unit, will meet and lead at Dundas and Oskenonton Lane (between Sherbourne and Seaton Street). Spring cleaning in Toronto

On Saturday, April 21st, groups across Toronto are gathering to clean up public spaces in their neighbourhoods.  The DVCRA has registered as a community clean up hub and we need your help! Please bring your gloves, maybe a small shovel, broom or dust pan if you have one and we’ll give Cabbagetown a good spring cleaning! We have some litter bags from the City (though feel free to bring your own) and will hand them out at on April 21st at 10:00am at the North East corner of Winchester and Parliament (the old Coffee Time). Community Alert: Methadone Clinic

“Towards Recovery” is a propsed methadone clinic which would be located at the corner of Dundas Street and Ontario Street. Local residents, police from 51 Division and our City councillor, Pam McConnell are distressed by their arrival. A public meeting for all Cabbagetown residents will take place Thursday, October 13th at 7pm at the Daniels Corporation Presentation Centre (500 Dundas).
