New development coming to Bleeker and Carlton?

I’ve heard from the some of the local dog owners and perish members that the church now at the corner of Bleecker and Carlton is soliciting offers and there are two offers currently in the running to get the property under contract.  The numbers thrown around for the sale price are impressive to say the least.  The main trouble they been having is with the Second Mile Club who are opposing the offer of buy because of excessive noise that will be coming from construction if the proposal goes through. Community Alert: Methadone Clinic

“Towards Recovery” is a propsed methadone clinic which would be located at the corner of Dundas Street and Ontario Street. Local residents, police from 51 Division and our City councillor, Pam McConnell are distressed by their arrival. I always thought that this was a semi-detached property until I read the post i found on Urban Toronto talking about the history of 27 Sherbourne Street North.  I hope you enjoy the brief history lesson. Why is Cabbagetown appreciating in value?

Seems that any property that gets listed in Cabbagetown sells and sells quickly.  This begs the question, why is it that properties sell quickly in Cabbagetown?  Following are a couple of items that I’ve noticed in my practice in Cabbagetown and its great impact on real estate values. Properties with multiple units are selling faster than single family and with multiple offers. Cabbagetown displays ills of social housing

Boarded up homes are an issue for any neighborhood as it takes away from the esthetics of the area and does a disservice to the neighbors.  If the neighbor causing the issue is the City of Toronto, I believe the city should sell the buildings off and let a private company come in to fix up the space. The city if projecting to fix these worn out homes with $238 dollars per unit which is laughable.  Our residents spend ten times that per year in maintaining their properties.
