Riverdale Farm Survey

  The Cabbagetown Residents Association has posted a Riverdale farm survey. The survey is part of a study by the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). I have always thought of Riverdale Farm as one of Toronto’s great hidden treasures. The New Riverdale Farm Business Plan Update

City councillors voted unanimously to accept a business plan for Riverdale Farm, to maintain the necessary funding levels in order to keep the beloved farm open for now. The farm’s operations cost about $493,900 a year. So far, the coalition has raised $17,000 since June, and anticipate to raise $100,000 this year; with a goal of raising up to $345,000 if all fundraising efforts are successful. [Source]

Riverdale Farm friends given until July to come up with financial plan

The Friends of Riverdale Farm could have until July to come up with a plan to make the farm more financially sustainable before council contemplates slapping a $2 user fee on the petting zoo overlooking the Don Valley. Today budget committee member Michelle Berardinetti tabled a motion that would put off plans to charge the fee until after the community organization had time to finish the job it started earlier this year.
